Do One Thing: Read This Article How Much For The Conscience?.
My friend Waylon over at Elephant Journal has penned a great piece titled “Pepsi to Greenies: How much for the conscience? that is just fantastic. I have written before about how people who call themselves “green” are too busy greenwashing for dirty, horrible companies in exchange for cash that they cannot even see their own ideals anymore that they may have started off with at one time or another. I work incredibly hard at keeping this site afloat without accepting ANY advertising dollars from polluting companies like Clorox or human-rights violators like Wal-Mart (although it’s tough to keep them off Adsense ads, but I try), which I get offered each and every month, but some people who call themselves environmentalists have no issue either A. accepting money from companies like this or B. writing articles promoting their greenwashing PR. Believe me, my life would be a lot easier if I was willing to run ads from these kind of companies! Waylon does a great job of pointing out the hypocrisy of Greenies taking money from companies like Pepsi in exchange for giving up their conscience via an article or advertising. It is worth a few minutes of your time to read, I promise you.
Please – if you consider yourself an environmentalist or a “green”, don’t trade your ideals or conscience for a few bucks. It’s not an exchange you should be OK with making if you truly care.
Read Pepsi to Greenies: How much for the conscience? . Elephant Journal, and thus Waylon, doesn’t accept advertising from these kind of companies either, so please give him your support.
