Do One Thing: Support Companies Like This That Do Good.
A few weeks ago I saw a post somewhere about a new eyewear company called Warby Parker. Their concept in the crowded field of companies selling eyeglasses online is that for every pair they sell, they give away a pair to someone in need. Pretty cool, right? Millions of people buy glasses every year, but by purchasing them from a company like this, they can also do some good for another person:
Warby Parker works with non-profit organizations, such as RestoringVision.org, to identify those in need and distribute eyeglasses responsibly. For every pair of glasses that we sell, we donate a pair through RestoringVision to someone in need.
Because buying glasses online can be nerve-racking for some people, they also offer free “at-home” try on pairs, free shipping, and free returns, along with the giveaways to those less fortunate who need glasses. At $99 a pair, it’s money well spent that also does a lot of good. Support more companies who do great things like this, and more of them will start cropping up!
