Greenwash Of The Week: Sean Connery & Green Banking.
Seems even Sean Connery isn’t immune to falling for some greenwash…although I am sure he was paid handsomely for it! Crédit Agricole, France’s biggest bank, is being attacked by the environmental lobby for its advertising campaign calling for “Green Banking” – while they are busy backing oil projects in Ghana and Uganda and lending $520m to Trafigura, the oil giant caught dumping toxic waste off the Ivory Coast. Sure sounds like “Green Banking” to me, how about you? It sounds that way to Friends of the Earth as well, who called the marketing push from Crédit Agricole “the worst example of greenwash we”™ve ever seen”. Ouch…that’s gotta sting a bit.

Sir Connery – I would suggest you take a look at what you are endorsing before you cash those checks!
