Every Master Gardener will tell you the same thing! Water before 10:00 am and never in the hottest part of the day. Not only will you have problems with mold and virus' but you can actually burn the plant leaves and damage the plants or garden permanently. Best to water early morning and use your rainwater out of your rain barrels and watch those plants grow faster!
Be sure to keep your gutters squeaky clean if you are using them to channel rainwater into a rain barrel. The cleaner the gutter the cleaner you water. Keep your rain barrel covered to prevent an infestation of mosquitoes that carry West Nile Virus.
Best wishes to all "happy harvester" of rain water and be safe and stay well. "Let Not Your Heart Be Troubled and God Bless America!

If possible, only water in the morning. Watering in the evening can be bad for plants precisely because excess water doesn't evaporate, which can then lead to fungal growth.
