Quick Green Reads For The Weekend Volume 114.

Tomorrow is Taos Cleanup Day, and I will be out working for 4 hours in the morning to clean up trash around town. Of all the places I have lived, this is the single most littered town I have ever been in and it needs all the help we can give it. It’s a shame so many residents don’t care about the way our town looks, but hopefully enough people turn out in the morning to help repair some of the damage. So if you happen to be in Northern New Mexico tomorrow morning, come by Kit Carson Park around 8am and lend a hand! On to the news…
A soon-to-be-released study by the Union of Concerned Scientists (UCS) finds that United States can reduce consumer and business energy bills and dramatically cut global warming emissions at the same time.
California air regulators on Thursday were considering first-in-the-nation rules requiring low-carbon fuels, part of the state’s wider effort to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
As with all forms of social protest, people take guerilla gardening to varying degrees. There are the people who dress all in black and sneak around at night planting seeds, kind of like a ninja Johnny Appleseed. And then there are the people who have taken guerilla gardening to a scientific level by inventing seed balls.
Exploring the natural world with children is such an amazing experience. Even if you are a nature buff, you will find something new when you look through their eyes. Nature not your thing? No problem. There is absolutely no requirement that you have to have all, or even any of the answers.
The U.S. may never need to build new nuclear or coal-fired power plants because renewable energy and improved efficiency can meet future power demand, the head of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission said.
A non-profit from Boston, the Newbury Film Series, launched a series of documentaries this Earth Day. The series is comprised of web vignettes profiling people who derive innovation from excess, who are redefining what we consider waste – recyclers, architects, musicians, retailers, and artists.
Have a great weekend everyone!
