Oh yes, I forgot to mention - we also installed rain barrels in 2008. Since you mentioned that you were planning on doing that. We have 7-55 gal barrels all hooked together collecting water from our garage roof. We were able to save over 2,000 gallons of water in 2008!

I do have photos on my blog.

Our goals for 2008 were about the same as yours for 2009. We have been eating almost exclusively home made food and most of it local, some of it homegrown.

We've already started detoxing our personal care routines. I have a box of the old toxic stuff ready to go out the door and we have been researching brands and how to make our own.

My goals for 2009 are:
1. To eat more locally & sustainably, particularly learning to eat more seasonally.
2. Replace regular items with more environmentally friendly alternatives when they needed replacing, paying particular attention to personal care products.
3. Learn to make my own environmentally friendly cleaning products and to find even better green alternatives than the ones I’m using.
4. Grow even more of my own food, hopefully around 20%, use more heirloom plants in the gardens.
5. Reduce the amount of garbage we produce to 1 bag per month.
6. Reduce the amount of water and electricity that we use even more.

You can read a more details explanation of my goals on my blog:

The amount of food in the grocery store now-a-days sent/canned/bottled etc from China is scary. Local Farmer's Markets are a great way to go (if you can afford them I guess).
