Do One Thing: Forget The Fresh Linens.
Next time you stay at a hotel for a few days, request that you not get new towels and linens every single day. You don’t get new ones every day at home, and having housekeeping do it at the hotel is a waste of water and energy. Many bigger hotels that we have stayed at have note cards in the bathroom asking guests to please re-use their towels and bed sheets to conserve water, and if the hotel you are staying in doesn’t have a program like it, ask the front desk to implement one. I even asked the yurt resort we stayed at to stop using paper cups when we were there – it never hurts to ask. There really isn’t any need to have new towels and sheets every single day, so do the earth a favor and use them for a few days!
