This most certainly gives credence to the fact that melamine can cross from feed to animal to the rest of the food chain. Formula and breastmilk are not equal choices, and babies whose mothers do not breastfeed have higher risks of health issues. I have three children, the first of whom was on formula from when he was 11 days old, because he couldn't nurse well. But I was also pumping milk and I gave him at least 50% my milk until he was 7 months old. Parenting requires effort, and people who aren't willing to make the effort to take their children's health seriously and consider all the risks before they make an educated choice (about anything, not just breastfeeding) aren't ready to be having children. This post just further supports my argument that breastfeeding continues to be a public health issue and is not ‘just’ an issue from the seventies.
