Take Action: Stop Bush From Cutting The Public Broadcasting Budget.
The Bush administration has slashed the proposed public broadcasting budget by 56 percent — putting at risk vital news, educational and cultural programming that millions of Americans say they prefer to commercial media.
Congress must stand with the millions of Americans who have acted in the past against such drastic cuts. The Senate is going to vote on the Bush cuts tomorrow. You have the power to make sure they protect public broadcasting.
As our nation readies to vote for the next president, we need news and information outlets that focus on the issues that matter most.
Public broadcasting’s commitment to serious, independent journalism stands in stark contrast to the relentless spin of 24-hour cable news. And it shows. In poll after poll, Americans say that public media programs are the most trusted news sources in the country.
These funds also ensure that families across the country will be able to tune in to high-quality educational and children’s programming. But this noncommercial media won’t survive unless we speak out.
Thanks everyone!
