What Gets 300MPG Or Plugs Into A Wall And Costs $27,000?

The Aptera, that’s what. I remember when I was a kid and all the future cars looked like this…and now here they come. The Aptera will be available in electric only or hybrid/electric format, it is classified as a motorcycle, you don’t need a special license, and you can use the HOV lanes in California. All that for between $26,900 and $29,900, depending on the model. They are supposed to start production towards the end of 2008. Check out the launch video:

this is my favorite of all the recent green car start ups. And for the same reason as David – this is what a car of the future looked like when I was a kid – I’ve been waiting for one of these – its freaking about time!
I hope they actually build them, as I would definitely buy one!
