Quick Green Reads For The Weekend Volume Forty Five.

Ah, Chicago - I gotta say, it has been incredibly warm here this week while we have been visiting. I know they had a ton of snow last week before we got here, and we saw a ton of it from the train, but we really lucked out this week. While I pack for our trip back to Los Angeles tomorrow, here are some stories that caught my eye this holiday week:

“The energy bill mandates that the U.S. increase the use of renewable fuels to 36 billion gallons by 2022, of which 15 billion can be corn-based ethanol. Bush is betting the farm that the best alternative fuel for the foreseeable future is corn ethanol. It isn’t…” - And I could not agree more.

Cannabinoids, the active components in marijuana that reduce the side effects of cancer treatment, may inhibit tumor cell growth, German researchers say. I don’t smoke marijuana, but I would love to have this prove to be true for those suffering.

New technology could clean toxic messes from mines and create electricity at the same time.

Tired of leftovers? Looking for something good to do with them instead of throwing them away? Check out this list on what and how to feed to the birds.

Have a great weekend everyone!
