Quick Green Reads For The Weekend Volume Forty Five.

Ah, Chicago – I gotta say, it has been incredibly warm here this week while we have been visiting. I know they had a ton of snow last week before we got here, and we saw a ton of it from the train, but we really lucked out this week. While I pack for our trip back to Los Angeles tomorrow, here are some stories that caught my eye this holiday week:

“The energy bill mandates that the U.S. increase the use of renewable fuels to 36 billion gallons by 2022, of which 15 billion can be corn-based ethanol. Bush is betting the farm that the best alternative fuel for the foreseeable future is corn ethanol. It isn’t…” – And I could not agree more.

Cannabinoids, the active components in marijuana that reduce the side effects of cancer treatment, may inhibit tumor cell growth, German researchers say. I don’t smoke marijuana, but I would love to have this prove to be true for those suffering.

New technology could clean toxic messes from mines and create electricity at the same time.

Have a great weekend everyone!
