Quick Green Reads For The Weekend Volume Thirty Eight.

Well, we are off to Mexico in a few days, but don’t fret - the site won’t go quiet…as if you were worried. However, the Quick Green Reads series won’t be up next Friday as, well, I will be in Mexico! That will be the first Friday in 38 weeks that it has not been up - kinda weird, really. Maybe I will just put the post up to keep the numbers running! While I contemplate this incredible quandary, check out some stories I found interesting this past week:

Bucking the industry trend towards Hydrogen fuel cells, Subaru has released a vastly improved second cut at a plug-in a battery-electric commuter car. The 65-kilowatt, 5-seater G4e’s new high energy-density lithium-ion batteries give it a 200km range from a charge (more than double the previous R1e’s range) and using a quick-charger it can be topped up to 80% in only 15 minutes. The new Subaru’s stats make it an instantly viable commuter.

The Jesus Landing Pad - Bush White House checked with rapture Christians before latest Israel move.

The Off-grid web site has started publishing extracts from the summer hit, “how to live off-grid” by Nick Rosen; You can see the first extract here.

The Church of England is today calling for an independent watchdog to stop the enormous buying power of the big supermarkets putting farmers’ livelihoods at risk. In a report urging an end to the leading retailers’ pernicious business practices such as squeezing farm-gate prices and making farmers pay for supermarkets’ own promotions, the Church recommends that the appointment of an independent ombudsman should be “urgently considered”.

Hope you all have a great weekend, and be back in a week!
