Prefab Wednesday - The mkLoft By Michelle Kaufmann Designs.

She has done it again - come out with another stunning example of what a modern prefab can be. Michelle Kaufmann just released her new mkLoft, which is a 2-story, 2-bedroom plus loft design.

From the site: mkLoft is the perfect design for urban dwelling whether you are looking to build your primary residence or live/work solution, a duplex, or a healthy community, this home can be designed in 2- or 3-story configurations to suit your needs. This home is created using the same sustainable materials, methods and systems as our other homes including:

- high-performance mechanical systems
- energy-efficient, healthy foam insulation
- dual-pane/low-E glazing
- water saving plumbing fixtures
- eco-friendly finishes throughout
- solar, geo-thermal, radiant heat, and other systems available as well

It looks as though it would be perfect for a developer to use for building a community with, and what a community that would be to live in! It sure would beat my old apartment building, that’s for sure. As with her other designs, the mkLoft does not come cheap, starting at around $140 per square foot not including land, transportation to your site, site work, utility hookups or septic system. But this sure would look great out in the middle of the scrub in New Mexico! ;-)
