Ever Wonder What An Earthship Is And How It Works?
Don’t worry, I did too. When I first heard that term a few years ago, I figured it was some sort of a space ship to launch me off this warming planet to somewhere better. Wouldn’t that make sense? Anyway, when we went to New Mexico this year we came across an earthship community near Taos and were curious as to what these weird houses really were. Turns out they are fully sustainable, fully off-grid for all power and water needs, and built to emphasize thermal and solar energy sources. Check out this 6 minute video that does a great job of showing and explaining what these houses can do. Sure, they are kind of weird looking, but when you realize that they are 100% independent of all fossil fuels, they become better looking by the second. Check it out from Green Energy TV:
Not sure if I could convince the Teacher Wife to live in one, but it sure looks like it would be pretty cool…
