Quick Green Reads For The Weekend Volume Thirty.

I have not been feeling so hot the last couple of days, so I don’t have much energy to come up with something witty. (Not that I ever do, mind you). But I will leave you with these interesting stories I came across this week. Enjoy!

An area of Arctic sea ice the size of Florida has melted away in just six days as melting at the top of the planet continues at a record rate. Won’t be long until Arizona has ocean front property.

Lighter Footstep has a good article up about how to have a “green your family” meeting. Great post, wish I had thought of that first!

Twice as many girls as boys are being born in some Arctic villages because of high levels of man-made chemicals in the blood of pregnant women, according to scientists from the Arctic Monitoring and Assessment Programme (Amap).

The first “hybrids-only” garage opens in San Francisco. San Francisco, and the Bay Area in general, is a hot spot for hybrids. 21,000 out of the 225,000 hybrids that were sold in the US last year are registered there. Luscious Garage ought to do quite well up there!

General Motors Corp said on Thursday it will add one of the largest solar power installations in corporate use at a warehouse in California, generating half the electricity needed to run the 300,000-square-foot (28,000-square-meter) facility. Now that is a step in the right direction, G.M.!

Alotta Errata wishes she didn’t care about the environment when things get tough. I share that with you, Alotta! Shows we are all just humans, doing the best we can. Don’t worry, it will get better! :-)

I don’t have much else to say, so have a great weekend everyone!
