How To Learn How Toxic Or Safe Your Personal Care Products Are.

I use this database all the time to look up different chemicals and products to see just how toxic they are. If you are starting (or already are) concerned about what chemicals and substances are in your personal care products, you can go look each of them up over at the site Skin Deep, which is run by the Environmental Working Group. The cool thing about this site is that you can look up the actual name of the product…for instance, I use Tom’s of Maine toothpaste (no tricolsan, thanks!) and Skin Deep gives it a “2″ rating, meaning it has a low hazard rating. The product that gives it a 2 instead of a “0″ is glycerin…seems there might be an issue with it. But compare Tom’s of Maine toothpaste to Colgate, which has so many things in it that are rated “8″ that it’s an incredibly long read…and highly toxic.
So if you want to learn about how your products stack up, check out Skin Deep. Don’t be scared, it only hurts when you look up the first 10 things in your medicine cabinet and learn what is in them…after that, you want to dispose of them all!
