Wearing Makeup Puts 5 Pounds Of Chemicals Into Your Body…Per Year.

Attention make-up wearers…those of you who use make-up on a daily basis can absorb almost 5 pounds of chemicals into your bodies each year! Ouch. Some of the compounds present in make-up have been linked to side effects ranging from skin irritation to cancer. One of the classes of chemicals in make-up that I mentioned before (See Parabens) have been found in rampant supply in breast tumor samples.

From Organic Consumers:

“Putting chemicals on your skin is actually far worse than ingesting them, because when you eat something the enzymes in your saliva and stomach help break it down and flush it out of your body. When you put these chemicals on your skin, however, it is absorbed straight into your blood stream without filtering of any kind, so there’s no protection against the toxin. The five pounds of toxic chemicals per year you may be absorbing from the use of toiletries and beauty products are largely going directly to your delicate organs.”

Just another reason to start looking for all-natural makeup and other body lotions, cremes, soaps and shampoos!

  1. This is so true. It’s scary to think about what we put on (and into) our bodies each and every day. Our family has found Arbonne for pure, safe, and beneficial health and skin care products. It’s good to know we are taking care of ourselves long-term.

  2. It must be wrong!

First of all in order to have a substance absorbed trough the skin you have to cove it with a patch…
even so if we assume a 25% (which is ridiculous) absorption rate that would mean that the average woman puts 20 Lb of stuff on her face per year.

    Ridiculous!
