Riding Your Bike Could Force You To Pay Motor Fuel Taxes.
Not really…at least not yet. But for those of you who remember a post I put up the other day about the guy that was fined by the government for driving a 100% veggie oil fueled car, could this happen one day? If you ride your bike as your main transportation or own an electric car, will you start having to pay the motor fuel tax that they are making this man pay? I mean, you use the same roads that cars do, so I am surprised they have not started fining those of us who choose to ride their bike around town.
What is this turning into? Someone tries to help the environment and they get fined by the government for not paying road taxes? I am telling you, it is only a matter of time before people who walk, bike or electric propel themselves get fined because they are NOT creating more pollution and using gasoline.

Here is another example: http://www.newsobserver.com/news/story/607113.html. Because people are buying less gas, presumably due to more fuel efficient cars and other means of reducing fuel consumption, the government is considering taxing us by the mile instead of by the gallon, and using GPS to track how many miles we drive. Again, the government is looking for ways to penalize us for reducing our fuel consumption.
