McDonald’s To Up The Ante - By One Penny.

See, McDonald’s likes migrant workers too, just like Wal-Mart! They are going to raise the price they pay for those gross tomatoes they put on their burgers….by one penny per pound. Workers are guaranteed to get this extra penny, according to the Coalition of Immokalee Workers, an advocacy group that worked to pass the agreement.

I am all for paying people what they deserve, and although I realize this could almost double their pay to $.72 per bucket of tomatoes (they currently get $.40 per 32 pound bucket), it just seems ridiculous that these people have to threaten a nationwide bus tour protesting in front of McDonald’s….to get 1 extra penny per pound of tomatoes.

Maybe I am wrong, but these companies should just be paying fair wages to being with.
