Greenpeace releases their guide to green electronics..and its not pretty.
From the site:
“The biggest names in electronics have just sat their first global exam on their green credentials. Ranked on their use of toxic chemicals and electronic waste (e-waste) policies only Dell and Nokia scraped a barely respectable score while Apple, Motorola and Lenovo flunked the test to finish bottom of the class.”
Ouch. That’s gotta hurt.
Their scorecard aims to inform consumers about what electronic manufacturers are doing to be more environmentally friendly, such as if they have a recycling program for old equipment. Since there are so many toxic chemicals in electronics, they also graded them on how many of these they were able to remove or replace with an alternate substance.
Note that above they said Dell and Nokia barely scraped by..and they were tied for first place.
