I support Charles Rangel's bill HR4752, the Universal National Service Act. The clear majority of persons from whom I have collected opinions believe that the current military is egregiously wrong in its classism of its ranks being largely filled by the poorer social classes. I believe in noblesse oblige, so that the higher class will be drafted before the lower all the way from the top class to the poorest. This would promote diversity, as well as shared experience, and democratize necessary duty in harm's way.
I favor drafting women. This would finally expedite passage of the Equal Rights Amendment, I think.

Richard Rathmann
