An “emergency plan” for combating global warming.

A Nobel Prize-winning scientist has come up with an emergency plan to stop global warming by artificially cooling the upper atmosphere with sulfur particles. Professor Paul Crutzen won a Nobel Prize in 1995 for his work on the hole in the ozone layer and he says that our political attempts to limit greenhouse gases are no good and we need a drastic plan to combat global warming.

He wants to use balloons to go up and release the sulfur, which should increase the “reflectiveness” of the atmosphere, thus cooling the earth.

All these ideas these scientists come up with always sound kind of bizarre at first, but since I am not a scientist, I am glad someone is thinking of more extreme measures than those that you and I could come up with.

Lets hope he is on to something!
