Throwing a “green” party without buying any paint.

The last party we had (ok, the only one we have had in a LONG time) was rather small and quiet, where we invited some close friends over to see our new abode. We bought all the food at Trader Joes or Wild Oats, trying to buy “healthy” meats, cheeses, crackers and fruit. We picked up some organic wine and some not-so-organic beer.

However, we also picked up paper napkins, plastic spoons and forks, plastic plates, etc. Why? Because we werent thinking straight. I guess in the mad rush to get everything done, we forgot about our “sustainable yearnings” and bought whatever we could find.

In the end, we had TONS of trash, bottles and cans (which were recycled) and leftover food. Just from a small party at our house. So I can only imagine what it would be like if you threw a big bash for a hundred people or more. This article as some tips on throwing a green party, from sending paperless invites (Evite) to renting real plates and silverware to getting rid of mosquitos without chemicals. If you are thinking of throwing a party, be sure to make it a green one!
