I dont remember my local librarian being this tough

Seems librarians are a little different nowadays then from when I grew up..

4 Connecticut librarians were served National Security Letters last August to turn over the library records of a patron of the library under the wonderfully named “Patriot Act”. (What these librarians did should be called a “Patriot Act”) They were not supposed to talk about it. They were told to “shhhhh” and just turn over the records. They refused, and filed suit against the government.

Please keep in mind..anyone…ANYONE…can have their library records taken by the Patriot Act. So if you have private health issues, law issues, personal problems, etc that you dont want others know know about…well, too bad, the government wants to know about it. They say it is in the name of stopping terrorism, but I just dont buy it. Be careful what you check out of the library. My advice? Buy the book with cash at a local bookstore if you are at all worried about your privacy.
